The grant provides $50,000 over the next year to develop novel engineering tools for molecular characterization of circulating tumor DNA. The award is part of a three-year Institutional Research Grant awarded to Boston University to provide pilot funds for early-stage cancer research investigators.

Prof. Pratt will be discussion leader for the “Clinical Applications Toward Personalized Detection and Therapy” session at the Physical Science of Cancer Gordon Research Conference. The conference will be held Feb 5-10 at the Grand Galvez in Galveston, TX.

Effective November 17, 2022, Prof. Pratt received a secondary appointment of Assistant Professor, Hematology & Medical Oncology, Medicine at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.

We are very excited to welcome to our newest lab member. Nicholle Weir-Shack is a sophomore in the BU Biology program. She will work as a lab coordinator as part of the ARROWS Student Lab Managers Program.

Prof. Pratt visited the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to present at the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research. She was invited and hosted by Dr. Stephanie Dougan and Dr. Harshabad Singh.

Prof. Pratt was invited to give a seminar to the Bioengineering Department at Northeastern University. Her talk was entitled “Liquid biopsy approaches in pancreatic cancer”.

Prof. Pratt will co-chair the BMES Annual Meeting Cancer Technologies Track Session entitled “Microengineered Models of Tumor-Stromal Interactions.” The session will be held on October 15th from 3 - 4:30 pm in room 214D at the Henry B Gonzales Convention Center.

The Moorman-Simon Interdisciplinary Career Development Professorship recognizes a faculty member who is conducting truly interdisciplinary work and either holds or has the potential to hold appointments in multiple schools and colleges at BU.
