Prof. Pratt attended and presented at the Advances in Cancer Early Detection - Tumorigenesis and the Microenvironment Symposium sponsored by the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and its Cancer Cell Biology and Cancer Risk, Prevention, and Early Detection programs, the DFCI Centers for Early Detection and Interception, and the MGH Cancer Early Detection and Diagnostics Clinic.

We are very excited to extend a warm welcome to our newest undergraduate researchers: Genesis Cely (BME), Mithun Makam (BMB), and Sanaya Tonsekar (Biology). They are all sophomores at Boston University.

Prof. Pratt presented at the 10th annual AACR Special Conference on Pancreatic Cancer in the plenary session on Early Detection and Interception of Precursor Lesions. Her talk was entitled “Multimodal tools for noninvasive cancer monitoring.

We are excited to host three new rotation students in the Pratt Lab. Welcome to Victoria Lozano Escarra (BS Biomedical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology), Liz Medvedeva (BS Bioengineering, University of Pittsburgh), and Ted Rock (BS Bioengineering, University of Pittsburgh).

Prof. Pratt is one of seven early-career recipients recognized by the foundation for innovative research on critical areas in neuroscience, cancer, immunology, and pain. Prof. Pratt is the first ever recipient from Boston University in the award’s 48-year history.

Congratulations to Colin Skeen and Maren Eltze on their successful completion of the BME Department’s Prospectus Defense! The topics discussed in their seminars have been presented at: C Skeen, P Sitaram, J Sexton, S Tsai, ED Pratt, “Optimization and Expansion of Digital PCR Multiplexing for Rare Mutation Detection,” in Proceedings of the Biomedical Engineering Society Fall Meeting (BMES), Seattle, WA, 2023.

Congratulations to Hanhminh Nguyen on completing her BS in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. She will begin a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at BU this fall. Well done!

Congratulations to Terry Chen on receiving summer research funding from STEM Pathways as well as a Distinguished Summer Research Fellowship!

Prof. Pratt will co-chair the BMES Annual Meeting Cancer Technologies Track with Prof. Madeleine Oudin. The meeting will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, Oct 23-26 2024.

Prof. Pratt gave an invited talk at the Department of Developmental, Molecular and Chemical Biology and Program in Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology joint seminar series. Her talk was entitled “Integrating Liquid Biopsy and Multimodal Technologies for Cancer Monitoring.
