Welcome to the Pratt Laboratory
We are an engineering-driven cancer research laboratory. Our mission is the design of liquid biopsy assays for non-invasive cancer monitoring. We work at the interface of engineering, chemical biology, and oncology.

Congratulations to Colin Skeen! His first-author paper entitled “Standardized droplet preamplification method for downstream circulating cell-free DNA analysis” was accepted for publication in BioTechniques. This paper reports the development of a standardized ddPCR protocol for robust pre-PCR enrichment of liquid biopsy samples.
We are very excited to extend a warm welcome to our newest PhD students. Liz Medvedeva and Ted Rock join us after completing a series of rotations through the BME program.
A new collaborative project led by Prof. Pratt and Prof. Khalil is one of five multidisciplinary proposals selected to receive a Dean’s Catalyst Award from the BU College of Engineering. These two-year awards are designed to promote innovative, cross-disciplinary research with strong potential to secure future external funding.
Congratulations to Genesis Cely on receiving summer research funding from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program!
The following research will be presented during the 2025 US HUPO (US Human Proteome Organization) Conference, held February 22nd - 26th in Philadelphia, PA: “Measuring Methyltransferase Activity using Cell-Deliverable Affinity-Based Peptide Probes (cAfBPs)” will be presented by Loran Gliford on Tuesday, February 25th, 4:30-6:00 PM.
